Funding Approved for Compton Community College

June 16, 2017

Sacramento --- The California State Budget will allocate $11.3 million to Compton Community College. These funds will support the preparatory work necessary for Compton Community College to register students as an independently accredited college beginning in the summer of 2020.

“I am excited about the future of Compton College under the leadership of Dr. Keith Curry. I have no doubt that Compton College will provide our families and children with excellent educational opportunities within our community.” said Senator Steve Bradford.

Compton College received initial accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) on June 7, 2017. Full accreditation is expected to be restored by 2020. Compton Community College has been providing accredited classes through an agreement with the El Camino Community College District pursuant to AB 318 (Dymally, 2006).
