Senator Bradford's Annual Turkey Giveaway and Health Resources Fair

Wednesday, November 24 2021

Senator Steven Bradford partnered with the Los Angeles Southwest College Foundation and the Church of Latter-day Saints, distributed over one thousand turkeys, beef roasts, and gift cards to families in need.  Senator Bradford continued this annual tradition which he started in Gardena as a City Councilmember and then as a State Assemblymember.

“The most rewarding part of representing such a great district is having the opportunity to give back and serve the community directly,” said Senator Bradford. “I look forward to this event every year. In spite of the pandemic, attendance was amazing and spirits were high. Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you to those who participated in today’s event, especially Liberty Employment Services and their hard-working disabilities workforce. Without their help, it would have been impossible for this giveaway to be such a resounding success.”

The event was sponsored by many organizations including, SA Recycling, Phillips 66, Wells Fargo, Blue Shield CA, Torrance Refinery, Republic Services, Golden State Waters, the LA Rams, and AltaMed. Lawndale Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles and Council Member Pat Kearney also attended and assisted in delivering the food.

Senator Bradford, his staff and community volunteers also distributed face masks and valuable healthcare information to constituents.

“Spending time with loved ones is always important and the idea of a meal surrounded by friends and family is tempting after nearly two years of social distancing and pandemic restrictions,” continued Bradford. “I encourage everyone to follow the CDC and California Department of Public Health guidelines when it comes to gathering for holidays. If we sacrifice now, then when we defeat COVID-19, we will all have something to be very thankful for.”
