TORRANCE, CA ­– Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), in partnership with El Camino College, with title sponsor Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, distributed over twelve hundred turkeys and pork roasts, over eight hundred grocery boxes, and one hundred Ralphs gift cards to families in need this holiday season. Senator Bradford continued this tradition, which he started as a member of Gardena’s City Council and then as a State Assemblymember.

SACRAMENTO ­– This year Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) continued his efforts championing a multitude of issues impacting not just his constituents, but all Californians.  In total, he was successful at getting 8 bills approved by the Legislature, 6 of which were signed into law by the Governor before the bill signing deadline, which was this past Friday, September 30.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) successfully secured $2 million of funding in California’s 2022-2023 budget for the City of Gardena.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) successfully secured $12 million of funding in California’s 2022-2023 budget, which will be used to repair the Artesia Bridge in the City of Compton. The bridge has been closed off since December of 2020, after a fire rendered it unsafe to use.

CARSON, CA ­– On Saturday, Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) hosted a Back to School Resource Fair and School Supply Giveaway and distributed over 650 backpacks stuffed with vital school supplies to students returning to school this year. The Senator’s Back to School Resource Fair, held at California State University, Dominguez Hills’ beautiful campus also featured over 30 vendors and was made possible by charitable donations from a wide variety of sponsors.

San Pedro, CA – Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) partnered with CalTrans District 7 in coordinating the volunteer effort to clean up the streets and highways of in Senate District 35. Constituents from all over the District volunteered this morning to pick up trash along the 110 freeway and State Route 47 (Vincent Thomas Bridge) in San Pedro with Senator Bradford and CalTrans staff.

Senator Bradford Issues Statement Regarding Sacramento County Sheriff

SACRAMENTO – California Legislative Black Caucus Chair, Senator Steven Bradford, calls on Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones to resign his positon for dereliction of duty and for breeding a culture of racism, hatred and ignorance.

“Former Sacramento County Sheriff’s Captain Kate Adams, acting as the Chief of Police of the Rancho Cordova Police Department under the supervision of Sheriff Jones is the poster child for law enforcement bias.” Bradford said.

SACRAMENTO – Yesterday, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that he is launching an independent review of the Torrance Police Department. The review comes following concerning allegations of excessive force, racist text messages, and discrimination. Torrance Chief of Police Jay Hart requested assistance to ensure that changes are implemented to regain the public’s trust.

SACRAMENTO - Today, the Department of Cannabis Control released regulations to implement SB 166, a budget trailer bill that establishes criteria for a $30 million statewide equity cannabis fee waiver program. The program is designed to assist those who were previously convicted or arrested of cannabis related offense, or are living at or below 60 percent of the Area Median Income, or live in a community disproportionately negatively impacted by past cannabis policies.
